Taxi Driver is a thrilling crime drama about Travis Bickle (Robert De Niro), a loner who suffers from insomnia, that prowls New York City streets at night as a taxi driver. As the line between reality and fantasy blurs in the disturbed man, he starts to fantasize about cleaning up the city. For him, that means trying to save child prostitute Iris (Jodie Foster) and obsessing over plans to assassinate a presidential candidate. The bold film was nominated for four Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actor for Robert De Niro, Best Actress for Jodie Foster, and Best Music for Bernard Herrmann.

Now the Martin Scorsese-directed classic is getting a limited edition SteelBook 4K Blu-ray edition. Restored from the original camera negative, the 4K Ultra HD will include the making of Taxi Driver documentary, storyboard to film comparisons with an introduction by Scorsese, animated photo galleries, and the 20th anniversary rerelease trailer.

The Blu-ray disc is packed with special features, starting with a 40-minute Q&A with Scorsese, De Niro, Foster, and others that was recorded at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival. It comes with commentary by Scorsese and writer Paul Schrader, and commentary by Schrader and Professor Robert Kolker. Featurettes include “Martin Scorsese on Taxi Driver,” “Influence and Appreciation: A Martin Scorsese Tribute,” “Producing Taxi Driver,” “God’s Lonely Man,” “Taxi Driver Stories,” “Travis’ New York,” “Travis’ New York Locations,” plus the theatrical trailer.

The SteelBook edition arrives on June 25, 2024.
