Quantcast

With the weather heating up, there are plenty of reasons to be outside at the beach, picnics, or a ball game. Of course, Hollywood is also giving many reasons to cool off inside for the latest movies and exciting TV series. Throughout June 2024, we got full length and teaser trailers for family friendly adventures at sea to terrifying alien encounters, and the returns of several naughty superpowered characters.

Deadpool & Wolverine

The Deadpool & Wolverine “Best Friends Day” trailer starts with the hero entrance of the pair walking toward the camera in front of a wrecked storefront. Then as Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) expresses his enthusiasm for their team-up, Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) cuts him off to ask that the heavily scarred Wade put his mask back on. There’s a blink and you’ll miss it shot of Lady Deadpool, aka Wanda Wilson from another Earth, a wasteland with a busted 20th Century Studios sign, and a joke about Paul Rudd. The trailer also shows a moment that Deadpool and Wolverine are tied together face to face and an action shot of them jumping through a portal, presumably into another Earth. It premieres in theaters on July 26, 2024.

Alien: Romulus

Alien: Romulus shares similarities with the original movie, following a group of space colonizers scavenging an abandoned space station. They soon learn why the station is uninhabited when they become prey to the universe’s most dangerous predators. The trailer keeps the focus on the fear and isolation that the characters will experience on the space station. One character visibly witnesses a baby trying to escape her chest, another is attacked underwater in a flooded compartment, and there’s a shot that mirrors Ripley’s up close encounter in Alien 3. The trailer contains adult language; it can be viewed on YouTube. It will premiere in theaters on August 16, 2024.

The Penguin

Penguin wants to become the new kingpin of Gotham and he is ready to make his move. The series picks up after Matt Reeves’ The Batman with an explosion that has flooded Gotham, giving off No Man’s Land vibes. Penguin visits Sal Maroni (Clancy Brown) after Carmine Falcone’s death, informing the crime boss that he will now be “calling the shots.” Since the Falcones are in turmoil, Penguin recognizes his chance to grow his own empire and go from lieutenant to boss. Meanwhile, Carmine’s daughter Sofia (Cristin Milioti) has her own plans for the family business. The Penguin arrives on Max in September 2024.

Venom: The Last Dance

The trailer starts off with thugs threatening Eddie (Tom Hardy), who unleashes his inner monster in a comically violent scene. Cut to a government base that is investigating extraterrestrial entities, and trying to keep them a secret from the public – a goal that Venom doesn’t exactly share. That’s about the time that others from Venom’s home world start showing up on Earth where the military team and Venom seem outmatched. The trailer teases other scenes from the movie, such as Venom dancing with old friend Mrs. Chen (Peggy Lu), Eddie hanging out with a man that is presumably Dr. Curtis Connors/Lizard (Rhys Ifans), and then there’s a Venom-ized horse. It will arrive in theaters in October 2024

Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft

Lara Croft is on the trail of a thief in the animated show, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft. Hayley Atwell is voicing the archaeologist in the series, which is set after the games Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. A powerful Chinese artifact has been stolen from Croft Manor while Lara was away on a solo mission. Lara pursues the thief across the globe and into forgotten tombs, all the while assessing what kind of hero she wants to be. The series will debut on Netflix on October 10, 2024.

Moana 2

In Moana 2, Moana (Auli’i Cravalho) receives a message from her ancestors that sends her on an adventure far out into areas of the ocean that haven’t been explored in a long time. The trailer starts with Moana helping a sea creature, then embarking on a new journey at sea. She connects with her ancestors, she comes into contact with wonderous ocean-dwelling animals, and meets new beings that live on faraway islands. Her chicken buddy Hei Hei (Alan Tudyk) and the shapeshifting Maui (Dwayne Johnson) are also back. It is scheduled for release on November 27, 2024.
