The Powerpuff Girls are getting a pinch of sugar and pumpkin spice in October 2024. The pint-sized superheroes of Townsville are starring in The Powerpuff Girls Halloween Special, which will be the first of a string of quarterly special comics. The 40-page book is created by the writing and art duo of Amanda Deibert (Darkwing Duck) and Cat Staggs (Wonder Woman ’77).

Buttercup wants to win the Townsville Gazette contest for best Halloween comic book. To do so, she will visit a potentially haunted hotel and venture through its creepy hedge maze for inspiration. But, she’ll miss trick or treating! So Bubbles and Blossom try to convince her to change her plans so that they can show off their costumes and have fun together.

“I am so excited about this Powerpuff Girls story jam packed with pop culture Halloween eggs (is that a thing?) for horror lovers and a multitude of mayhem and mix-ups with so many of our favorite villains,” Deibert said. “Nothing could be better than the Powerpuff Girls saving Halloween! This is a TREAT for us (and our Powerpuff loving daughter!)”

“As an OG fan of the The Powerpuff Girls, getting to draw them is a dream come true. Getting to work with my incredible wife, Amanda Deibert, and mix it with my favorite holiday, perfection!” Staggs said.

The spooky special will feature covers by Staggs, Trish Forstner, and Silvia De Ventura. It will arrive in comic shops on October 23, 2024.
