Arcane, the stylish steampunk animated series that became a global hit in 2021, is finally returning to Netflix for a second season in November 2024. Not only can fans look forward to new episodes soon, they can also get a deeper look at the series in The Art and Making of Arcane from Insight Editions.

The Art and Making of Arcane takes readers through the visual journey of Riot Games’ and Fortiche’s revolutionary animated series. Featuring early art styles, evolving character designs, and jaw-dropping worldbuilding artwork, this volume is the definitive compendium of Arcane’s creative process and vision,” per the product description.

The book has never before seen images from Riot and Fortiche, early character designs, a look at the background and settings, and interviews with over 20 animators, writers, directors, and artists. The regular version is wrapped in an acetate jacket, comes with a Jinx poster, removable map of Piltover, an in-world blueprint, a Vander letter, and foldout spreads from seasons one and two. The regular edition is priced at $60.

The portfolio edition has the book with a variant cover, a Progress Day booklet, an Arcane tarot card, the vinyl score album with 22 songs from season 1, and a deluxe, hardbound portfolio with four prints of production art. It retails for $160.

The artifact edition has the book with a variant cover, slipcase, two interior foldouts, two high quality 9” hand-painted polyresin bookend statues of Vi and Jinx, two posters, and three blueprints. It has an 8-page Progress Day booklet, all four Arcane tarot cards, the vinyl album in artifact edition packaging, a portfolio of six art prints, and a signature card signed by Christian Linke, Alex Yee, Arnaud Delord, Bart Maunoury, Jérôme Combe, and Pascal Charrue. Priced at $550, it is limited to only 1,000 copies and comes with a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity.

The Art and Making of Arcane is expected to ship to customers on December 31, and arrive in stores in early 2025.
