The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power released a season two trailer during their panel at San Diego Comic-Con. Lots of action was shown in the trailer as Sauron makes moves to control the rings while others gather to fight against their corrupting power.
The trailer begins by showing how the rings can tempt their wearers, and the dwarf Durin IV (Owain Arthur) warns that a powerful, ancient evil has returned. A new fellowship is formed with Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) and Elrond (Robert Aramayo) who prepare to fight an army of orcs, though the pair disagree over Galadriel wearing one of the rings.
Celebrimbor (Charles Edwards) comes across a figure bathed in golden light, which is revealed to be Sauron pretending to be an elf with gifts to give. The trailer also has shots of Arondir (Ismael Cruz Córdova) shooting arrows, a great eagle landing by Pharazon (Trystan Gravelle), Adar (Sam Hazeldine) leading an army of orcs, and the Stranger (Daniel Weyman) casting magic.
Several cast members appeared at the panel, including Clark, Aramayo, Edwards, Córdova, Charlie Vickers, Benjamin Walker, Cythnia Addai-Robinson, and others. Executive producers and showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay were also on hand.
Payne confirmed that the elf Glorfindel will eventually appear on the show and that they will reveal who Theo’s biological father is at some point. McKay also teased that the romantic tension between Galadriel and “hot Sauron” will be seen again.
The Rings of Power season two will start streaming on Amazon Prime on August 29, 2024.
