November is a time for giving thanks, and we sure are grateful for the latest movie trailers. There are superheroes, bigtime villains, antiheroes, Doctors, and longtime action stars ready to entertain audiences. Here are some of the exciting trailers for movies coming up in the next few months.
Doctor Who
The latest Doctor Who Christmas special clip shows the Fifteenth Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) with new friend Joy (Nicola Coughlan) as he examines a mysterious briefcase while standing inside of what looks like a hut. An image appears from the briefcase revealing that the Doctor’s old enemy Villengard is back. The preview reveals that Villengard has a star seed that could destroy every living thing on Earth. As the Doctor argues with the briefcase’s consciousness, a dinosaur appears, revealing that he and Joy are millions of years in the past. The episode titled “Joy to the World” will air on Christmas Day, December 25, 2024 on Disney+ and BBC One.
Captain America: Brave New World
The Captain America: Brave New World trailer starts when Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) visits Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly) after the older man was arrested for attacking President Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford), though it appears that he was being controlled by someone else. In a tense conversation, Sam warns the president that his inner circle has been compromised and the president counters by telling Sam that he’s “not Steve Rogers.” Cut to Sam flying into action with upgraded wings, while investigating what has America on the brink of war. The trailer introduces Ruth Bat-Seraph (Shira Haas), a former Black Widow, who works with President Ross, and briefly shows villain Sidewinder (Giancarlo Esposito). It culminates in the moment that President Ross becomes Red Hulk and the inevitable confrontation with Captain America. It debuts in theaters on February 14, 2025.
Thunderbolts*
The new footage of Thunderbolts* gives an extended look at some of the previously seen moments. It starts with a car chase scene when Red Guardian (David Harbour), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), John Walker (Wyatt Russell), and Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) try to outrun a convoy. That’s when Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) shows up and the car full of misfits can’t help but admire his coolness. Then the group, including Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), meets with Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) who is brazen enough to call them “adorable.” The trailer introduces the team, who get to know each other, insult each other, and have an all-out brawl before Bob (Lewis Pullman) wanders into the scene. The movie will be in theaters on May 2, 2025.
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning
The movie picks up after the cliffhanger ending of Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One. In that film, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his team tried to secure two halves a key that controls the Entity, a very powerful cyber weapon. It ended with Gabriel, the man working with the Entity’s AI, escaping justice, while new ally Grace officially joins the team, and Ethan learns about the submarine Sevastopol’s connection to the Entity. The trailer is mostly shown in brief shots, starting with underwater exploration, a frozen landscape, and Ethan sprinting through London. It appears that much of the movie will take place at sea and under the frozen waters where the Entity is located. We see vessels churning through the cold water, Ethan venturing into the sea, and Cruise’s latest shocking stunts. It will be in theaters on May 23, 2025.
Alien: Earth
“When a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth, a young woman and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat,” per the official synopsis for Alien: Earth. The recovery crew search the wreckage for survivors, finding the terrifying alien life form instead. Not only will they fight for their own survival against the superior predator, the crew also needs to decide what to do about the discovery, and that choice could have a huge impact for all life on Earth. The eight-episode show will air on FX and Hulu in the summer of 2025.
