ThunderCats are on the move! As the 1980s classic cartoon series celebrates its 40th anniversary, Dynamite Entertainment and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products are partnering on a comic venture. Together, they will offer a new way to read the original ThunderCats comics in collected editions that can be ordered via BackerKit.
The campaign offers deluxe collections of the complete ThunderCats comic series, which ran for 24 issues while the original show was on the air from 1985 to ’88. The books are being scanned, remastered, and compiled into new graphic novel editions.
Writers whose work is featured in the book include David Michelinie, Gerry Conway, Tom DeFalco, Dwight Jon Zimmerman, and original show writer Stephen Perry. Artists showcased in the book are Jim Mooney, Jose Delbo, Ernie Colon, Dwayne Turner, Al Williamson, Brett Breeding, and others.
The ThunderCats comics will be sold as a single, oversized hardcover volume or as two paperbacks. Signed editions are also offered, which are signed by original Lion-O voice actor Larry Kinney.
The paperback volumes are $40 each and the hardcover volume is $100. There are limited edition back issues for $20, and signed editions and variant covers for $100. The campaign has already met its goal and will be open for backing until January 6, 2025.
