The Last of Us TV series based on the popular action-adventure video game is returning for its second season soon in April 2025. Now’s the perfect time for fans to catch up on the series with The Last of Us season 1 Blu-ray release.

The first season physical release is now in stores, with a standard 4K Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD editions, as well as a limited edition Steelbook for the 4K Blu-ray.

“The Last of Us takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal and heartbreaking journey as they both must traverse the US and depend on each other for survival,” per the description.

The first season introduced Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Anna Torv as Tess, Nico Parker as Sarah, Murray Bartlett as Frank, Nick Offerman as Bill, Melanie Lynskey as Kathleen, Storm Reid as Riley, and Merle Dandridge as Marlene.

Special features available on the home release include “The Last of Us: Stranger Than Fiction” in which cast and filmmakers join experts in survival, microbiology, and parasitology to discuss the realities of the series. In “Controllers Down: Adapting The Last of Us,” cast and filmmakers discuss adapting the video game as a TV series. “From Levels to Live Action” will show how important moments from the game were featured in the show.

Featurettes also include “Getting to Know Me,” “The Last Debrief with Troy Baker,” “Inside the Episode,” and “Is This A The Last of Us Line?”

The second season of The Last of Us will debut on Max on April 13, 2025.
