Midsommar star Jack Reynor is returning to horror for The Mummy. The film is being directed by Lee Cronin and his Doppelgängers banner is among the producers. The New Line Cinema film is also being produced by Blumhouse and Atomic Monster.

Plot details have not been revealed yet, however, it was announced that Reynor will play a husband and father who tangles with a sinister supernatural force. Cronin had previously stated that the movie will be unlike any other Mummy movie and that he is “digging deep in to the earth to raise something very ancient and very frightening.”

Cronin’s film could follow other recent reimaginings of classic monsters. The 2020 Invisible Man followed a man who created a high-tech invisible suit, and 2025’s Wolf Man portrayed a man’s werewolf transition as a horrific disease.

Reynor is best known for his role as Shane Dyson in Transformers: Age of Extinction. He starred in the artistic horror film Midsommar, as the protagonist’s neglectful boyfriend Christian. The Irish actor is also known for Free Fire, Sing Street, and the Strange Angel TV series.

The Mummy will begin production soon in Ireland and is schedule to reach theaters on April 17, 2026.
