Marvel; $4.99

The celebration of Marvel’s 80th anniversary continues with this second anthology issue, containing a multitude of short stories. There’s plenty of familiar faces in this issue from across Marvel’s history, all of whom get their own chance to shine on a one or two-page story that highlights their character.

Marvel Comics #1000 and #1001 have both been a ton of fun, not only as a celebration of the company’s milestone anniversary but as a way to showcase the kind of talent present in the industry today. Each of these little micro-stories takes a unique look at a character that fans are either very familiar with or that they don’t know at all – and it’s nice to see both ends of the popularity spectrum represented. I’d like to see more collaborative anthology projects from Marvel like this in the future.
