Captain Marvel has been pulled into a bleak future where the half-Atlantean, half-Asgardian Ove wants to use her life force to travel back in time so that he can rule. The situation was looking pretty dire as Ove and Enchantress used the powers of other heroes to fortify their stronghold and control Captain Marvel. That was until Thor’s daughter Brigid was able to call Mjolnir and give Carol a series power upgrade.

The “Brave New World” story concludes in Captain Marvel #26 doing plenty to level the playing field and free her allies to battle Ove and Enchantress. It’s a high stakes, magically powered fight that requires the best effort from Captain Marvel and the others.

Artist Lee Garbett wraps his run on the title with this issue and he did so with some beautiful half-splashes and plenty of punches – both physical and emotional. Antonio Fabela’s colors further heightened the impact of Carol’s turbo charged powers and made the many panels with magic crackle with energy.

Kelly Thompson has been doing a great job at the helm of Captain Marvel. This arc provided steller action, especially in this issue, with the personal story of who Carol meets in the future and how that affects her life in the past. Given how it concluded the ramifications will likely spread into future events.
