From their six volumes of Terry and the Pirates to Caniff: A Visual Biography to this eleventh volume of Steve Canyon, any time IDW’s Library of American Comics (LOAC) imprint releases a new collection by Milton Caniff is cause for a celebration. Each one is a master class in the art of storytelling, and this latest one is no different.

Bruce Canwell’s brilliant introductory article does an amazing job of putting the strips in this particular collection in context. This is something all of the LOAC books do well, but it was very important for this one in specific to spotlight Steve Canyon’s (and Milton Caniff’s) place in a very tumultuous era.
