Bad Idea; $9.99

Bad Idea is setting a solid foundation of not doing the same thing with each release. While they’ve had a few issues with supply and messaging, they’re doing a stellar job with the quality of the products from the printing on up. The art and production have been solid, and the stories have been as up to the task as they have been different from each other.

Whalesville x Rocks And Minerals is two distinctly different graphic novels unified only by their writer, Matt Kindt (Eniac) and a slightly hard-to-describe sensibility.

Whalesville is illustrated by Adam Pollina (X-Force) and is an all-ages tale set in the belly of a whale, where a strange sort of ecosystem has developed among the colorful residents.

Rocks And Minerals, which follows, features art by Tony Millionaire (Sock Monkey) and tells the story of sentient rocks and minerals who explore their world and wonder what it was like before “The Great Polishing,” when fire got rid of organic life.

Both tales are very compelling, beautifully told, and are completely different than Kindt’s other Bad Idea title, Eniac.

If you’re looking for non-superhero material and solid reads, this is a one-book purchase for two very intriguing graphic novels.
