The third issue of Jennifer Blood plays out like a Purge movie. Giallo and the other lowlifes of Bountiful are having a hunting competition and the prey are Mexican immigrants. With so many murderers out in the open – and conveniently recognizable by orange vests – Jennifer Blood has her own shooting gallery.

There is no chill and no subtlety in Jennifer Blood #3. Fred Van Lente changed the tempo from the last issue’s cloak and dagger surprises for overt brutality. It certainly builds more animosity for the villains who have no redeeming qualities, which is further driven home by Vincenzo Federici’s art and Dearbhla Kelly’s colors.

This issue isn’t complex, but it does invoke a visceral reaction.
