Washbot found the black box to reactivate the portal so that the miners can return to the ‘Verse and leave the Earthers in peace. That is, if Kaylee keeps her promise to go through the portal and blow it up so that no more plunderers can ever come through. But that decision is made more difficult when members of Serenity’s crew want to stay behind.

Greg Pak brings this Firefly story to a satisfying conclusion in this issue. It reads like a TV series finale with all the characters contemplating their futures, making important life decisions, and reflecting on how much they care about each other. It has the necessary “thrilling heroics,” a dash of humor, and the emotional punch of a Firefly story.
