Bob Schrunk is a filthy rich billionaire who collects bad art, pushes people around, and has a horrible skin condition. He has found a way to heal his affliction by harvesting the material from other people, resulting in their deaths. Bob holds people captive in his fortress of a house to use for his skin cream – and he forces them to choose who will be the next victim.

Detective Erica Hernandez discovers Bob’s secret when she questions him about her missing sister and becomes one of his prisoners. What she doesn’t expect are the odd responses she gets from the other captives.

Rumpus Room is a dark satire about a rich man using everyone else as if they’re lives are meaningless. It’s also a study in how quickly people can turn on each other or join forces in order to survive. If that wasn’t enough, Bob’s guards are dressed as giant stuffed animals, and he has a strange taste in art that adds a bizarre quality to the book.

The miniseries is a little bit weird, a little bit disturbing, and definitely thought provoking.
