First Oliver and his mom were attacked by cartoon crows, then he was saved by the cartoon Pecos Pete who shocks Oliver by revealing that he is his grandfather. In the midst of trying to process being part cartoon, Oliver went on the run with his grandfather and started learning about some of his abilities. Now, they have stepped into a two-dimensional world where they find even more cartoon danger.

The second issue of Uncanny Valley slowed the pace to build the story and world, now in issue three writer Tony Fleecs quickens the energy with Oliver and Pecos Pete dodging plenty of threats. The story is full of suspense and real threats, but also peppers in cartoon rules established by Warner Bros., Disney, and the like. On the art side, Dave Wachter balances the real world and cartoon world by juxtaposing cartoon colors and designs with a more natural color palette and realistic renderings.
