The new Terminator series begins in Alaska in 2018 where a couple live in solitude away from civilization and the Terminators that destroyed the world. All isn’t peaceful, however, when one of those killer machines emerges and heads straight to their home. Flashbacks then reveal that this particular Terminator has been trying to find them for a long time.

The new Terminator series written by Declan Shalvey, with art by Luke Sparrow and colors by Colin Craker follows the original movie’s tone. It focuses on how scary Terminators are and how emotionlessly they pursue their targets. We don’t learn much about the couple and why they are being pursued, instead its all about the immediacy of trying to stay alive and being terrified of the Terminator.

Some Terminator comics lose the emotional impact by focusing instead on the action. This one does not, and it’s better for that fact.
