Will Profane is having his final showdown with Red Glove over the death of his creator, Spud Coltrane. But, the situation is complicated by Detective Lopez, the real police officer investigating Coltrane’s death, and missing novelist Raven Noir who was kidnapped by Red Glove. There’s also the messy fact that Will, a fictional character, is falling hard for Non-Fiction singer Lili McBeth.

The creative team of writer Peter Milligan, artist Raül Fernandez, and colorist Giada Marchisio bring the Profane series to a conclusion in this issue. It has a tense showdown, surprising revelations, an emotional hook, and a few twists – all the things a good noir story needs. Each issue of Profane has noted the tropes in classic detective stories, but also embraced the rules. The story wasn’t too complicated, instead it focuses on the meta situation of a fictional character coming into the real world, giving a fresh take on the old genre.
