Linnea Kent is a former homicide detective who turned in her badge for a private detective license. She and her doting husband Parker, a former professional boxer, run the Pine & Merrimac Detective Agency. Typically, they investigate infidelity, insurance fraud, and similar cases – that is until Linnea takes a more complicated case that reveals a seedier side to their otherwise charming town.

A girl has gone missing and the Pine & Merrimac detective agency is on the case. It didn’t take long for detectives Linnea and Parker Kent to find who took the girl, but the “why” is another story.

This five-issue series written by Kyle Starks with art by Fran Galán started strong and kept that momentum going with each issue. Linnea and Parker have great chemistry with affectionate dialogue and gestures, and it displays their integrity and temperaments. Once they take their new case, the hook is set for more complicated situations than either is expecting and pulls the reader in for each issue that follows.

It’s a strong first series, and hopefully another case is on its way for the Pine & Merrimac Detective Agency.
