During the early 20th Century, Edgar Church was a commercial artist in the Denver, Colorado area. When the new medium known as comic books was born, Church was immediately enamored of this new art form, and began collecting every comic book he could find. Over a period of about 20 years, he amassed what has since become legendary as the “Mile High Collection”, the most extensive, highest-grade accumulation of Golden Age comics ever discovered.

What few in the comic book collecting community were aware of when the collection was originally acquired from Church’s estate and put on the market by Mile High Comics founder Chuck Rozanski, was Church’s personal history as an artist. Not widely publicized until a special exhibit at the Grand Opening of Diamond International Galleries in January 1995 was that Rozanski had also obtained an extensive collection of Church’s original artwork.

Now, Diamond International Galleries is pleased to announce that a selection of over 200 pieces of Edgar Church’s original illustrations are now available for sale on their website. While none of his artwork is comic book related, it has a special significance in its personal connection to perhaps the most famous comic book collector of all time.
