The CGC-certified 9.2 Atlantic City copy of Captain America Comics #1 brought $343,057 in the August ComicConnect.com Event Auction, the company has reported.

“Nobody in the galaxy has sold a Captain America Comics #1 for more money,” said Rob Reynolds, Director of Consignments. “This stunning copy was from the newly discovered original owner Atlantic City collection that were bought off the stands and lovingly preserved for 70 years.”

The comic features the origin and first appearance of Captain America and his sidekick, Bucky, and it sports one of the greatest cover images of the Golden Age with Cap smashing Adolf Hitler squarely on the jaw.

“This comic was a tremendous addition to the biggest money auction we’ve ever conducted,” said Vincent Zurzolo, Chief Operating Officer. “All of the Atlantic City copies blew away our high expectations. I couldn’t be happier.”
