The full list of titles has been announced for Free Comic Book Day, which will be Saturday, May 7, 2022, and Gemstone Publishing will be a Silver Level Sponsor once again.

The Overstreet Guide to Collecting Comics FCBD 2022 takes an inventive, comic book approach to the fun of collecting comics. Through a series of stories, it tells the overall journey of getting started, getting serious, and still having fun with collecting. It also showcases how comic books can help power your dreams.

“Our goal for FCBD every year is to welcome new readers and to offer seasoned readers and collectors a new perspective on the medium we all love so much,” said J.C. Vaughn, Gemstone Publishing Vice-President of Publishing, who is writing this year’s issue.

Over the past few years, many of our FCBD covers have featured some funny crossovers, generally with a promise that the scene depicted would not actually occur in the issue. We’ve teamed up Painkiller Jane and Usagi Yojimbo, Billy Tucci’s Shi and Tom Mason’s Dinosaurs For Hire, the Golden Age Daredevil and Steve Conley’s space monkey, Bloop, and we’ve shown The Three Stooges as Valiant’s Bloodshot, Eternal Warrior and X-O Manowar.

“This year, however, we’re concentrating on the spirit of collecting comics. In our industry we tend to through the term ‘legend’ around way too much, but Ron Frenz and Sal Buscema definitely fit the bill, and we’re honored to welcome them to the Overstreet roster. Ron and Sal, along with colorist Glenn Whitmore, have delivered a powerful interpretation of enjoying comic books. In addition to a family reading together, it features The Blue Baron, a great character from a new publisher, Sitcomics, who helped us team up with Ron, Sal, and Glenn,” Vaughn said.

The complete listing of all 46 FCBD titles, including the 11 Gold Sponsor and 36 Silver Sponsor comic books, can be found in the January issue of Diamond Comic Distributors’ PREVIEWS catalog, on sale at comic book shops on Wednesday, December 29. They can also be viewed online at freecomicbookday.com.
