AMC has shared some key details on The Walking Dead spinoff about Daryl Dixon. The untitled series starring Norman Reedus will take the taciturn survivor on an international voyage.

The Walking Dead universe Chief Content Officer Scott M. Gimple has announced that Daryl’s travels through the zombie apocalypse will take him to France. He hinted that Daryl may face fast moving zombies that were teased in The Walking Dead: World Beyond post-credits scene.

Gimple also noted that Daryl will reinvent himself now that he’s no longer part of the group he’s been traveling with for years. Daryl will be a solo act in the new series, which was previously supposed to be co-led by Melissa McBride.

With the flagship series ending, The Walking Dead universe is expanding in multiple directions. The anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead, featuring new and returning cast members in various time periods, premieres on August 14, 2022. A Maggie/Negan spinoff starring Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan is in the works. At San Diego Comic-Con, Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira made a surprise appearance to announce a limited series following Rick Grimes and Michonne.

The Walking Dead will return on October 2 to close out the 11th and final season.
